For BAB 2022, Maloberti realised the performance, CIELO. At the heart of the performance is a large white neon sign looms with the word CIELO written in reverse. It’s a monument that relates to the idea of infinity, of an upward escape. The neon is raised by a mechanical arm of a crane and rising up like an obelisk, while drawing the audience's gaze up, and triggering a sudden desire for imagination. Using the ambiguity of the sky and the reverse lettering, Maloberti makes the viewers question their perception as they are thrown into disorientation and a sense of being upside-down. 

Furthermore, CIELO is a reflection of language, bringing a word that reverses the low and the high, inserting itself into the urban landscape through a poetic gesture. CIELO is a vertigo, the neon writing a boundary, a reversal, echoing Marcello Maloberti's work words.

Like Piero Manzoni's Socle du Monde (1961), the world appears upside down, poised on a plinth; the immensity of the world rests on it, just as the immensity of the sky rests on the earth.
CIELO is a word suspended, elemental, illuminated in the night, clear: a concept that can be translated into any language, seeking new meanings each time.

And so, on infinitely, like the line on the horizon.
